01: Introduction

A stock market flotation involves selling a percentage of the business in the form of shares on one of three UK stock markets:

  • London Stock Exchange – for large company listings.
  • Alternative Investment Market (AIM) – for smaller company listings.
  • PLUS – for smaller companies wanting to raise up to £10m.
But floating on any of these markets is not a suitable option for many smaller businesses, because they are unable to demonstrate the track record and potential necessary to interest investors.Last Updated
